Raised in a joint family in Delhi, he grew up surrounded by warmth, discipline, and a strong sense of belonging. Music was never positioned as a career, it lived gently in the background. His mother was classically trained, his father played guitar, and music became a constant presence rather than an ambition.

He chose Berklee, master the craft globally, then carry it back to Indian music with deeper understanding and discipline.
After completing his schooling in India, he earned admission to Berklee College of Music and moved to the United States. Most students arrived with Western musical ambitions. His work on Shuruaat with the Berklee Indian Ensemble, an album nominated for a Grammy, reinforced his belief that Indian music could speak globally without losing its emotional core. He went on to release original work with leading Indian labels, including Saregama and Sony Music India.
